OUR NATIONAL FLAG (আমাদের জাতীয় পতাকা) 

The flag that symbolically represents a nation is the national flag. The salient features that constitute a nation geographically or spiritually are represented by the national flag. Every nation has to have a national flag declaring its independent and sovereign identity. We have our national flag. With the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent country from the fetters of Pakistani colonialism we have had it. To us, the achievement of a national flag was not an easy task. At the dedication of millions of lives in our liberation war, we achieved it. Flags may vary in size.

But whatever, maybe the size the length and breadth must be 10:6 in proportion. On a green background with the red rising sun in the middle, our national flag symbolises the hope and optimism of a peace-loving nation. Since colours may stand for different abstract ideas; the green and red colours of our national flag may be artistically interpreted in many other optimistic points of view. Whatever concept it stands for, it stands for the existence of our nation. We must uphold its dignity and sanctity at any cost.

যে পতাকা প্রতীকীভাবে একটি জাতির প্রতিনিধিত্ব করে তা হল জাতীয় পতাকা। ভৌগলিক বা আধ্যাত্মিকভাবে একটি জাতি গঠনের প্রধান বৈশিষ্ট্যগুলি জাতীয় পতাকা দ্বারা প্রতিনিধিত্ব করা হয়। প্রতিটি জাতির একটি স্বাধীন ও সার্বভৌম পরিচয় ঘোষণাকারী জাতীয় পতাকা থাকতে হবে। আমাদের জাতীয় পতাকা আছে। পাকিস্তানি ঔপনিবেশিকতার শৃঙ্খল থেকে একটি স্বাধীন দেশ হিসেবে বাংলাদেশের অভ্যুদয়ের সাথে সাথে আমরা তা পেয়েছি। আমাদের কাছে জাতীয় পতাকা অর্জন সহজ কাজ ছিল না। আমাদের মুক্তিযুদ্ধে লাখো প্রাণের উৎসর্গে আমরা তা অর্জন করেছি। পতাকা আকারে ভিন্ন হতে পারে। তবে যাই হোক না কেন, আকারের দৈর্ঘ্য এবং প্রস্থ অবশ্যই অনুপাতে 10:6 হতে হবে। মাঝখানে লাল উদীয়মান সূর্যের সাথে সবুজ পটভূমিতে, আমাদের জাতীয় পতাকা একটি শান্তিপ্রিয় জাতির আশা ও আশাবাদের প্রতীক। যেহেতু রং বিভিন্ন বিমূর্ত ধারণার জন্য দাঁড়াতে পারে; আমাদের জাতীয় পতাকার সবুজ এবং লাল রঙগুলি অন্যান্য অনেক আশাবাদী দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে শৈল্পিকভাবে ব্যাখ্যা করা যেতে পারে। এটি যে ধারণার জন্যই দাঁড়ায় না কেন, এটি আমাদের জাতির অস্তিত্বের পক্ষে দাঁড়ায়। যে কোন মূল্যে এর মর্যাদা ও পবিত্রতা আমাদেরকে সমুন্নত রাখতে হবে।
