VISITING A PLACE OF HISTORICAL INTEREST (ঐতিহাসিক গুরুত্ববহ একটি স্থান পরিদর্শন) 

Last month I had an occasion to visit the Shat Gambuj Mosque of Bagerhat and the mazar of Khan Jahan Ali. I was accompanied by some of my classmates and we were guided by a teacher of our school. We first visited the mazar of Khan Jahan Ali. The Mazar stands on a raised ground. The tomb is made of stones. There are inscriptions in Arabic on the tomb. The mazar area is always crowded with different types of people. There is a vast pond in front of the Mazar. It looks like a large lake. There are several codiles in the tank. They are fed with hens, ducks, etc. by many people who think them to be holy. Then we left for the Shat Gambuj Mosque which was about three kilometers away from the mazar. It is one of the greatest tourist attractions and best architectural beauties of Bangladesh. Actually the mosque has 77 squat domes. The prayer hall is vast. It has 11 arched door-ways on east and 7 on north and south for ventilation and light. The interior western wall of the mosque was beautifully decorated with terracotta flowers and foliage. The mosque stands on the eastern bank of a vast tank. This tank also looks like a large lake. We spent half an hour sitting on its bank. Then we started for home. We enjoyed the visit very much and learnt a lot about the history of Bagerhat in mid 15th century. The memory of the visit still haunts my mind.

গত মাসে বাগেরহাটের ষাট গম্বুজ মসজিদ এবং খান জাহান আলীর মাজার দেখার একটি উপলক্ষ ছিল। আমার সহপাঠী কয়েকজন সহপাঠী ছিলাম এবং আমাদের স্কুলের একজন শিক্ষক দ্বারা পরিচালিত হয়েছিল। আমরা প্রথমে খান জাহান আলীর মাজার জিয়ারত করি। মাজার উঁচু মাটিতে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে। সমাধিটি পাথর দিয়ে তৈরি। সমাধির উপর আরবীতে শিলালিপি রয়েছে। মাজার এলাকা সব সময় বিভিন্ন ধরনের মানুষের ভিড়ে থাকে। মাজারের সামনে রয়েছে বিস্তীর্ণ পুকুর। এটি দেখতে একটি বড় লেকের মতো। ট্যাঙ্কে বেশ কয়েকটি কোডিল রয়েছে। মুরগি, হাঁস ইত্যাদি দিয়ে তাদের খাওয়ানো হয় অনেক লোক যারা তাদের পবিত্র বলে মনে করে। তারপর আমরা মাজার থেকে প্রায় তিন কিলোমিটার দূরে ষাট গম্বুজ মসজিদের উদ্দেশ্যে রওনা হলাম। এটি বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম সেরা পর্যটন আকর্ষণ এবং সেরা স্থাপত্য সৌন্দর্য। প্রকৃতপক্ষে মসজিদটিতে 77টি স্কোয়াট গম্বুজ রয়েছে। নামাজের ঘরটি বিশাল। বায়ু চলাচল ও আলোর জন্য এর পূর্বদিকে ১১টি খিলানযুক্ত দরজা এবং উত্তর ও দক্ষিণে ৭টি। মসজিদের অভ্যন্তরীণ পশ্চিম দিকের দেয়ালটি পোড়ামাটির ফুল ও লতাপাতা দিয়ে সুন্দরভাবে সজ্জিত ছিল। মসজিদটি একটি সুবিশাল ট্যাঙ্কের পূর্ব পাড়ে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে। এই ট্যাঙ্কটিও দেখতে বড় লেকের মতো। আমরা তার পাড়ে বসে আধা ঘন্টা কাটিয়েছি। তারপর আমরা বাড়ির উদ্দেশ্যে যাত্রা শুরু করলাম। আমরা সফরটি খুব উপভোগ করেছি এবং 15 শতকের মাঝামাঝি বাগেরহাটের ইতিহাস সম্পর্কে অনেক কিছু জানতে পেরেছি। সেই সফরের স্মৃতি এখনও আমার মনে তাড়া করে।
